Maintain & Care
Whether you’re enhancing your yard with turf or Bermuda grass, planting colorful annuals or adding perennials or orchids to your space, you’ll find support for your lawn and garden projects at The Home Depot. We carry lots of planters, plus all types of plants, from indoor plants and air plants to bonsai trees, ficus plants and Swiss cheese plants.
Indoor House Plants Can Do More Than Look Pretty
Besides adding beauty to your home, indoor plants can actually help to purify the air. Some indoor house plants are better for air purifying than other indoor plants. Air plants are small indoor house plants that get most of their nutrition from the air and require very little water. Be sure to check out our wide selection of indoor planters.
Succulents are a great choice for people who don’t want to spend a lot of time caring for their indoor plants. Because they live where rainfall is scarce, succulents store water in their leaves. Grown all over the world, succulents are easy to grow and can survive dry tropical or semi-tropical climates, like deserts and steppes. They can also be grown in containers.
Similarly, ZZ plants can grow in harsh conditions and only need watering every couple of weeks.
Annuals can grow in flower beds, along borders, in container gardens and hanging baskets. Annuals like petunias offer prolific blooms and strong growth over the season. You’ll liven up any space with the spectacular colors of annuals.
When choosing perennials, make sure you check their height, size, growth patterns, colors, peak blooming time and ideal soil conditions. You’ll also want to be certain that perennials are compatible with your region’s climate.
Aloe Vera Plants, Snake Plants & Other Plants
Known for its healing properties, you’ll wow your friends with our aloe vera plants. Aloe plants like light, but not direct light. A north or south-facing kitchen window is a convenient home for your aloe plant. Water them only when the soil dries out.
Like its name suggests, snake plants have spiky, glossy leaves that extend into the air. They make great indoor plants since they soak up lots of sunshine and don’t need a lot of watering. We also carry fiddle leaf figs, which feature large, wavy leaves.
You can also add a rain barrel to your yard. Watering your lawn and garden can account for up to 40% of your total household water use. Rain barrels collect and store rainwater from your roof that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains and streams for later use in your yard and garden. They are especially useful during droughts or during water restrictions.
Garden Supplies & Care
Just like with traditional gardens, the health and happiness of your container garden depends in large part on proper consideration of individual growing zones. Not only should the selection of plants and flowers be dictated by specific climates, but the care and maintenance of planters themselves depend on climate as well. You may need to bring ceramic and terra cotta pots indoors during freezing weather, as they tend to crack more easily. Also, certain flower pots and planters may overheat your plants and flowers during hot and sunny weather if care is not taken to keep them in the shade.
In addition to pavers, composters, gravel, stepping stones and trellises, we offer everything else you need to kick-start your garden. Arbors can serve as the arched gateway to your own enchanted garden or frame a walking path while giving climbing plants a foothold to show off their beauty. Keep critters away with mouse traps. Maintain the safety of your sleep area with our bed bug spray. You can even add some quirky character to your yard with our selection of garden gnomes or show off your style with retaining wall blocks and landscape rocks.
When it comes to all of your gardening needs, The Home Depot has you covered.
